In his words: best fishing charter I’ve ever done

Thank you for an amazing birthday fishing trip.

Great fun had by all- and food for 14 - We were staying with friends, and to say thank you I decided to take them all fishing.
Dragon Lady looked promising, and we had an excellent time. We are... read more used to doing charters down in Melbourne with the same group of friends and we all enjoy fishing.
Easy to find boat, and mornings look busy in POrt Douglas with multiple charters leaving.
Welcomed on board and off very quickly- took about an hour + to get the 25-30 km off the coast, but were soon wetting our lines.
Almost instant success, and overall we got enough fish (7 of us) to feed 14 of us for 3 days! What was even better was that many big fish, were not big enough, my Rede Emperor had to go back, but as can be seen in the pic it is a beautiful fish, and deserved to go back into the ocean as he did put up a good fight, and had a nice time bringing him in.
Crew were helpful, although not as friendly as some, and they were always trying to wash the boat down- which is good, but some warning would be appreciated, and you “wouldn’t get wet shoes if you didn’t wear any” seemed a little smug.
They had set up a line for swimming fish, and once it went “off” a young lad of probably 12-13 was left to pull in the fish- a nice catch shared by all.
All to soon it was over- whole day charter- and had to face a 1hr + return.
Fish were cleaned at each stop, and photos taken, and placed in well chilled fridge. All were tagged with the groups colour, and at the end of the day all bagged and given to each group. The group was good, we made friends and one lone fisherman only managed to get one keeper, but after a few donations he ended up with 4-5 nice fish (all of which we told him to tell his family “he had caught”)
The only down side- scaling and filleting at home. Worked out bake the whole fish and peel off skin- saves on the mess, but steamed whole Coral Trout with ginger and sesame oil was magnificent.

Nice day out - Great Crew did everything they could to get us a good catch
Ended up with some nice fish but not heaps
Lunch was 1 star
Probably 5... read more too many on the boat
And we moved too often even when we were on to a good school so we spent more time travelling than fishing

A great day out with fantastic weather! - It's pretty obvious from the outset these guys are focussed on getting you the best experience possible on the reef.
Steve the captain is a fisherman with plenty of experience... read more & Kale the Deckhand were both fishermen by heart and go the extra mile to try and make it a memorable experience.
We moved regularly based on the tide and what we were catching, there was a range of different fish and all sizes.
The sharks did make it a little difficult on occasion to get all fish on board but obviously they can't control that.
The gear was reasonable and plenty of bait to go around.
Plenty of room on the mostly covered deck & limited numbers of 14 seen the boat busy on hookups, however both crew were awesome, very attentive & helping all the time especially with the inexperienced.
The boat was clean & tidy (thanks to Kale continuous cleaning and taking pride in his work), a good sized lunch was provided (2 × rolls, a couple of chicken pieces & cake) along with a Softdrink (limited to lemonade and only 1 each unfortunately) & water, I would suggest taking a snack for mid morning if you are used to eating then) & maybe a beer if that's what you need....
Overall I really respect the work they must put in day after day and would recommend these guys when you're in PD.

Amazing Experience - My wife and I had an amazing day fishing with the team from Dragon Lady Fishing.
The crew were friendly and helpful. They worked hard to make sure everyone... read more was catching fish. It's around a 1.5hr trip to get to the fishing ground on the outer reef but it was well worth it. All day people were steadily catching fish. We caught a huge variety of fish from tiny fish to a shark and everything in-between. My wife caught a very good size reef fish and the crew were amazing in assisting her to land it. It's a fishing trip that we will truly remember for along time and next time we are back in NQ a fishing charter will be high on the agenda.
As soon as the sharks moved in or the fishing slowed down the crew moved the boat to another spot. Almost every spot we went to as soon as I dropped a line in I hooked a fish. It was a very exciting day.
The boat was clean, equipment was good, lunch was great and I didn't feel like it was over crowded. They provided water and soft drink but I would suggest bringing some snacks (which they did mention when I booked).
all in all a very enjoyable day.

A very enjoyable day - We had a nice day fishing. The skipper and his offsider were really great and helped with all things as soon as we had a fish on. Could not fault... read more them at all, friendly and very obliging. Lunch was great and more than enough.
Just perhaps to many people on boat ,13 people so with a couple of people new to fishing, lines got tangled a lot and we were on top of each other quite a bit making the 1-5 metres a little hard to do.
All in all a great day and lots of fish were caught.
